Enhancing Small Business Success with Google’s E-E-A-T Principles
Did you know that 9 out of 10 business owners aren’t optimizing their sites for Google’s Quality Rater Guidelines? Yes, you heard that right. Most aren’t taking advantage of E-E-A-T.
After selling my SEO agency, I’m here to clear things up. Why is this important? Because E-E-A-T = Higher Rankings = More Leads = More Money. I’m excited to walk you through how to E-E-A-T!
Key Points:
– E-E-A-T first appeared in Google’s Quality Rater Guidelines in 2014.
– These guidelines help “Quality Raters” evaluate the quality of Google search results.
– E-E-A-T provides Google’s algorithm with insights to identify high-quality and relevant content.
– E-E-A-T stands for Expertise, Experience, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness.
As a business owner, understanding E-E-A-T is crucial. If your website doesn’t meet these standards, it’s less likely to rank well on Google, and we all know that higher rankings bring in more money. Prioritizing E-E-A-T also positions you and your brand as a leader in your field.
Though E-E-A-T as an acronym is catchy, think of it starting with Trustworthiness. The best way to gain Google’s Trustworthiness is by showcasing your Expertise, Experience, and Authoritativeness. There are several easy fixes you can implement on your site today for lasting impact. Here’s my full E-E-A-T checklist for you to use.
Google seems to be focusing more on ranking content created by experts. Would you rather read a football article by John Elway or me? No, you don’t need to be Bill Gates to rank your content. Here’s how to do it:
First, you need to write about topics in your niche. The more content you create in your niche, the more you build your topical relevance and authority—key aspects of expertise.
When Google mentions ‘experience,’ it means practical involvement with the topic. This is where you can stand out from AI-generated content, which can’t show real experience. You can do this by sharing personal insights, making videos, and summarizing these videos into articles.
Looking at top-ranking websites, they all have great content, user engagement, and backlinks. Backlinks are links from other websites to your site, and they act as votes of confidence, helping your content rank higher. Guest blogging is one time-tested strategy to get backlinks.
Want to learn more about backlinks? Do a quick Google search; there are thousands of articles on the topic. I’ll also cover link-building in detail in a future post.
To sum it up, Google’s E-E-A-T guidelines help you create content that resonates with your audience. Keep producing great content that connects with people, and Google will reward you with more leads.
That’s all for now!
