Maximizing Small Business Success with Google E-E-A-T

Did you know that 9 out of 10 business owners aren’t E-E-A-Ting? That’s right, they aren’t optimizing their sites according to Google’s Quality Rater Guidelines.

So, why is this important? In simple terms: E-E-A-T = Higher Rankings = More Leads = More Money.

I’m here to show you how to master E-E-A-T!

The idea of E-E-A-T was first introduced in Google’s Quality Rater Guidelines back in 2014. These guidelines help “Quality Raters” evaluate the quality of Google’s search results. They also guide Google’s algorithm in identifying quality and relevant content.

E-E-A-T is a significant component of these guidelines. Let me break it down for you:

As a business owner, understanding E-E-A-T is crucial. If your website lacks these qualities, it’s less likely to rank high on Google. And rankings mean money. Plus, focusing on E-E-A-T will also help establish you and your brand as leaders in your field.

Although E-E-A-T is a great acronym, I prefer to start with Trustworthiness. To build Trustworthiness with Google, you need to show Expertise, Experience, and Authoritativeness. You can improve several basic things on your site today that can make a big difference.

Here’s my complete E-E-A-T checklist. Go through it and tick the boxes. It’s that simple.

I believe Google is moving towards ranking people, not just content. They want content written by experts. For example, would you rather read an article about football by a football legend or a random person?

You don’t need to be a celebrity to get your content to rank. Here’s what you should do: write about topics in your niche. The more content you produce, the more you build topical relevance and authority, which equals expertise.

Google defines ‘experience’ as direct, practical involvement with the topic. This is where you can differentiate yourself from AI-generated content, which can’t show real experience.

To showcase this, you can write detailed articles or create videos and summarize them into articles. All our landing pages included videos, which really helped.

Top-ranking websites often share common traits: expertise, experience, authoritativeness, and backlinks. Backlinks are basically votes of confidence from other websites. The more backlinks you have, the better your website will rank.

Guest blogging is a classic strategy to build backlinks. It’s simple: you write articles for other websites in your niche, and they link back to yours.

If you want to dive deeper into link building, a quick Google search will give you plenty of resources. I’ll also cover this in a future post, so stay tuned!

In conclusion, Google’s E-E-A-T guidelines serve as a roadmap. They help you create high-quality content that resonates with your audience. The best part? If you consistently produce great content, Google will reward you with more leads.

That’s all for now!
