Enhancing Small Business Success with Google E-E-A-T Standards
Did you know that 9 out of 10 business owners aren’t E-E-A-TING? That’s right, they aren’t optimizing their site according to Google’s Quality Rater Guidelines!
After selling my SEO agency, I want to clear things up. Why does this matter? Simply put: E-E-A-T means higher rankings, which means more leads and more money. Let me show you how to successfully incorporate E-E-A-T.
First, let’s understand E-E-A-T. This concept was first introduced in Google’s Quality Rater Guidelines in 2014. These guidelines help a group called “Quality Raters” evaluate the quality of search results. They also give Google’s algorithm the insight to identify quality and relevant content. E-E-A-T stands for Expertise, Experience, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness.
As a business owner, it’s important to get why E-E-A-T matters. If your site lacks these elements, it’s not going to rank well on Google. We know that better rankings mean more revenue. By focusing on E-E-A-T, you can also position yourself and your brand as a leader in your industry.
Although E-E-A-T sounds great as an acronym, it all starts with Trustworthiness. You build this with Google by demonstrating Expertise, Experience, and Authoritativeness. There are several simple fixes you can make on your site today that will have a lasting impact. Check out my full E-E-A-T checklist and start making those improvements.
Google is shifting towards ranking people, not just content. They prefer content written by experts. Think about it: would you rather read a football article by John Elway or by a random person? You don’t have to be a big name to get your content ranked. Here’s how you can do it.
Write about topics in your niche. The more you write about your subject, the more you build topical relevance and authority, showing your expertise. Google’s term ‘experience’ means real, hands-on involvement with the topic you’re writing about. This is your chance to stand out from the AI-generated content that lacks true experience.
Incorporate videos in your writing. For example, shoot a video and summarize it into an article. This approach worked for all our landing pages at TGA.
Top-ranking websites have a common pattern. They all use quality backlinks, which are links from one site to a page on another. These backlinks are seen as endorsements by Google, boosting your site’s authority and rank. One effective link-building strategy is guest blogging.
To wrap up, Google’s E-E-A-T guidelines act as a compass, helping you create quality content that resonates with your audience. Keep producing great content and Google will reward you with more leads.
That’s all for now! Keep going!
