This year’s unusual circumstances have turned many aspects of our lives upside down, especially our finances. Like many, we’ve started looking at different ways to make more money. One of the easiest methods we’ve found is selling on Amazon.
SELLING NEW ITEMS
We began by selling new items on Amazon after hearing about others’ success stories. This strategy fits well with my talent for finding great deals, which I’ve had since I can remember. We find discounted or clearance items in physical stores that sell well on Amazon.
FINDING THE BEST DEALS
At first, I shopped at Target and Best Buy, but they didn’t offer the best deals. We had more luck at Staples and Office Depot’s clearance sections, where you can always find new and potentially profitable items. Marshalls and TJ Maxx are also good spots. Before buying, it’s important to check the potential selling price on Amazon. There are several ways to do this, but I’ve found a particular app to be the quickest method.
THE GO-TO APP FOR SPOTTING A BARGAIN
The app, Price Compare for Amazon and eBay, has been a real game-changer. It works best if your product has a barcode, but even without one, you can search by keyword or other criteria like manufacturer, product description, category, color, style, and size. Look for items that are rare on Amazon, as they typically offer the best opportunities.
SETBACKS TO KEEP IN MIND
Remember to factor in shipping costs. Amazon sets the shipping cost for me, which can sometimes be higher than what it actually costs to ship. Bigger and heavier items cost more to ship, so keep this in mind to ensure you’re not spending more on shipping than what you’re earning.
RESELLING PRELOVED ITEMS
Another great option is reselling preowned items, especially if you have things you or your kids no longer use but are still in good condition. Not everything can be sold unless you’re a wholesaler, but we’ve had success with items like video games, controllers, cameras, phone cases, and charging cables.
CREATIVE PRODUCTS
We’ve also ventured into selling homemade products. During the COVID-19 lockdown, my spouse started customizing disc golf discs. We began selling these alongside other disc golf discs on Amazon, and it worked out well. If you add a unique touch to a product, Amazon can help you showcase your creativity and potentially increase your income.
SUMMARY
In summary, trying to diversify our income during this pandemic, Amazon has been a valuable tool with just a bit of extra effort needed. Whether you choose to sell new items at a bargain, resell preowned items, or create custom products, success comes from making your products stand out. Solving this means you might earn a good supplementary income through Amazon.
So, have you thought about using Amazon to boost your income?
