Hyatt Hotels Face Possible Cybersecurity Threat

The hotel chain has found some software issues that suggest hackers might have accessed customers’ credit card details and other information. While they’ve advised customers to review their credit card statements, they haven’t confirmed if any data was actually stolen. Hyatt’s spokesperson, Stephanie Sheppard, mentioned via email that the malware was detected on November 30. However, she did not explain why it took the company three weeks to make this information public, which they announced on Wednesday. Hyatt is one of several major hotel chains this year to acknowledge a security breach. This Chicago-based company owns, operates, or franchises 627 properties in 52 countries.
